On October 15th, 2024, a Chinese Long March 4C rocket successfully placed the fifth Gaofen-12 earth observation satellite into sun-synchronous orbit. The Gaofen-12 series of satellites is believed to have civilian and military applications, but official sources provide little conclusive information.
